Washington Township Educational Foundation
Hosts Thirst Quenching Wine Tasting Event
The Washington Township
Educational Foundation hosted its second annual wine tasting event on Saturday,
April 30th at the Schooley’s Mountain Lodge in Long Valley. The event was a huge success with more than 200 attendees.
This premiere event, entitled “A Thirst for Knowledge”, featured a beer tasting as well as a magnificent silent auction. Proceeds will supplement the WTEF Literacy Initiative, which enriches school libraries, and media centers with book purchases, curricula enhancements materials, teacher supplements and library media support systems.
The event offered over 30 wines from Gary’s Wine and Marketplace of Chester and two beers from the Long Valley Pub and Brewery. “Food for Thought” was provided by local area restaurants including Califon Fine Foods, Caruso’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar, J. Emanuel Chocolatier, Long Valley Pub and Brewery, Mountain View Grill, Redwoods, Tony’s Bistro and Valley Restaurant. Music by the Valley String Quartet and flower arrangements by Blossoms & Twigs finished off the evening’s atmosphere.
At the event the WTEF kicked off their Goat Raffle, which offered people the opportunity for $10 to enter 3 people into a raffle to be drawn at the Washington Township Fall Festival on October 1st to win the title of “Goat Master”. Those entered then have the chance to purchase “Goat Insurance” for $10 to have their name removed from the raffle and protect themselves should anyone else enter them into the raffle.
