2005 Book Drive for Schools

Emily Forrest, Washington Township Girl Scout and twelfth grader at West Morris Central High School, ran a book drive for township teachers and librarians as her Gold Award project in November.  Throughout October, Emily collected donated books township from families. More than 15,000 books were collected and made available to librarians and teachers for the school libraries as well as classroom collections.  Barbara Swetits, who will be the librarian at the Benedict A. Cuccinella School took more than $10,000 worth  of books for that library alone.   Many other teachers and librarians took books as well.  These books were offered at no charge.   After a week of teacher browsing, the books were offered the books for sale to the public and Emily raised approximately $200 selling books for a mere 25 cents each.

Thanks to Emily for all her hard work and thanks to all who donated books!
